Dealing with a bed bug infestation can be stressful, but natural remedies like diatomaceous earth (DE) offer a chemical-free solution. DE is a fine powder made from fossilized organisms that dehydrates insects, causing their death. It’s safe for pets and children when used properly.
To use DE, first vacuum the area thoroughly. Then sprinkle DE around bed frames, furniture, and baseboards, leaving it for 5–7 days. Afterward, vacuum up the DE and repeat every 7–10 days if necessary.
Though cloves contain eugenol, which might repel pests, their effectiveness against bed bugs remains unproven. Cloves can be used in sachets or as an oil spray around entry points. For severe infestations, professional help is recommended.
