I’ve never been the type to hold grudges, but I can’t forgive Claire for what she did to me.
When my brother, Liam, got engaged, I agreed to help plan their wedding for him, not for Claire. I handled everything: invitations, vendors, the venue, and the catering. I even baked the cake, choosing chocolate-peanut butter because it was Liam’s favorite childhood flavor.
On the wedding day, while I was finishing the cake, my mom told me I wasn’t on the guest list. I was shocked and heartbroken. Claire had excluded me without telling me herself.
Liam found out and confronted Claire. She explained that she didn’t want “divorced people” at her wedding. Liam stood by me, and later, he returned with the cake, apologizing. We ate it together, laughing and sharing a moment of comfort.
A few days later, Claire came to apologize. But I didn’t forgive her. She didn’t deserve it.
