Trump’s Golf Trips Cost Taxpayers Millions
Since returning to the White House, Donald Trump’s frequent golf outings have racked up a staggering bill for American taxpayers, largely due to Air Force One operations.
Sworn in as the 47th president in January, Trump made a historic political comeback. He declared America’s decline “over” and quickly signed executive orders, including a crackdown on immigration. However, just a week later, he was back on the golf course.
On January 27, Trump was spotted golfing at Trump National Doral in Miami, just two days after denying he had time to play. “No, I don’t think so. I’m busy,” he told CNN’s Betsy Klein.
A report from the Associated Press revealed Air Force One costs approximately $200,000 per hour to operate, excluding the additional military cargo planes and security measures required for presidential travel.
According to the 2019 Government Accountability Office report, Trump’s golf trips have cost taxpayers over $18 million since his return. His first term’s total golf expenses reached $151.5 million, with this term projected to exceed that due to inflation.
Despite the criticism, Trump remains passionate about golf, owning 12 U.S. courses and several international ones.
