Donald Trump hints at deploying U.S. troops to seize Greenland

Donald Trump has long expressed interest in taking control of Greenland, and recently suggested the U.S. might deploy troops to seize the island, which belongs to Denmark. During a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, Trump stated that he believed annexing Greenland would happen, emphasizing the U.S. needs it for national security. He mentioned the U.S. already maintains a military presence on the island, including a key space base.

The debate over Greenland’s future has escalated from a real estate proposal to the possibility of military action. While Denmark’s Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen rejected selling Greenland, the center-right Demokraatit party in Greenland recently won an election, advocating for the island’s independence. Their leader, Jens-Frederik Nielsen, made it clear that Greenlanders want to build their own future, rejecting both American and Danish control.
