After their father’s death, sisters Julia and Helga were at odds over their inheritance. Helga was furious that Julia would receive most of the estate, demanding more because of her children. Julia overheard the heated argument, and Mrs. Hanson, their mother, explained that Julia had sacrificed much to care for them.
Despite Helga’s ongoing pressure, their mother’s will stood firm. After Mrs. Hanson passed, Helga pretended to be devastated, but continued to harass Julia for more money. Julia, planning to outsmart her, offered Helga 50% of the sale from their mother’s house.
When Helga went to collect her share, she found only three crumpled $1 bills and a note reading, “That’s all you deserve.” Helga’s greed led to nothing, and the sisters never spoke again.
